Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PICARA (K de Melo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) COUPE DE MAITRE (R Munger) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) COUPE DE MAITRE (R Munger), AIRBOURNE KITTEN (J Greyling) and RED CARPET GIRL (J Penny) were brushed in by PICARA (K de Melo) which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) After being slow away, COUPE DE MAITRE (R Munger) failed to muster speed on debut and raced detached from the field throughout. c) In the concluding stages, HIGH FLYBY (C Zackey) and MIX THE MAGIC (D Schwarz) were brushed inwards by PICARA (K de Melo) which hung in from the 200m. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board into this incident, however after reviewing the patrol footage, he was of the opinion that the result of the race had not been affected and therefore no further action was taken. d) Jockey J Greyling reported that he felt something amiss with AIRBOURNE KITTEN in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) RED CARPET GIRL (J Penny), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (AH). f) PICARA (K de Melo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Naude advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) RAY INDIGO was ridden by Apprentice J Solomons who claims 1,5kg allowance. b) AIRBOURNE KITTEN was ridden by Jockey J Greyling (declared 22 March 2022 at 09H08) (Stipes permission - by mutual consent from Trainer and Jockey). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PICARA raced unshod (declared 16 March 2022 at 13H44). b) COUNTRY FLAME raced without blinkers (declared 22 March 2022 at 08H44). c) AIRBOURNE KITTEN raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 15 March 2022 at 08H06). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MIX THE MAGIC blood in mouth. b) AIRBOURNE KITTEN mild post race distress. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
