FOLLOWING RACE 1, IN CONSULTATION WITH JOCKEYS, THE TRACK CONDITION WAS CHANGED FROM GOOD TO SOFT TO SOFT. AFTER THE RUNNING OF RACE 1, JOCKEY P STRYDOM RAISED CONCERNS REGARDING THE TRACK CONDITIONS IN THAT HE WAS OF THE OPINION THAT THE TRACK WAS INCONSISTENT. THE STIPENDIARY BOARD GRANTED PERMISSION FOR JOCKEY STRYDOM TO STAND DOWN ON THE REMAINDER OF HIS MOUNTS AND REPLACEMENT RIDERS WERE SOUGHT. RACE 2 : HAPPY HOLIDAYS MAIDEN PLATE : 2000m : Ref 425 Starter: L Saliete Loading time : 2:41sec Runners: 09 Carded time: 12:55:00 Rescheduled time: 13:35:00 Off time: 13:36:50 Provisional result: 13:39:51 All Clear: 13:47:09 THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BAD MEDICINE (R Venniker) was slow into stride. b) POPLAR PARK (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) THE MERCIFUL (N Klink) was difficult to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to THE MERCIFUL (N Klink), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable with a companion on a race day. Suspension dates: 29.12.2024 to the 04.01.2025. THE MERCIFUL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. b) In view of the performances of THE MERCIFUL (N Klink) (9.05 lengths, 17/2 in the betting) and RISING RUSSIAN (K Brewer) (35.75 lengths, 16/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. c) Jockey M Katjedi (SNOW MOON) accidentally dropped his crop at the 400m. d) KIVULI (J Penny) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. e) Leaving the 300m, SNOW MOON (M Katjedi) was carried in by POPLAR PARK (K Matsunyane) which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected. f) POPLAR PARK (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
