THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	LION RAMPART (R Fourie) was restless in the stalls and rushed the front gates, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay
b)	KAIBOY (G Wright) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. MEU CAPITANO (G van Niekerk), which was drawn next to KAIBOY (G Wright), was taken out and reloaded. 
c)	GIMMELIGHTNING (S Veale) and LUHAMBA PHAMBILI (A Mgudlwa) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Leaving the 800m GIMMELIGHTNING (S Veale) was steadied briefly when racing tight on the inside of LUHAMBA PHAMBILI (A Mgudlwa).
b)	BEREAVE (G Lerena) was hanging out and shifted out from the 200m.
c)	Approaching the 100m GIMMELIGHTNING (S Veale) raced in restricted galloping room for a short distance between MEU CAPITANO (G van Niekerk) and a tiring ROMAN AGENT (P Mxoli), which rolled out. 
d)	Approaching the 50m LUHAMBA PHAMBILI (A Mgudlwa) was steadied and directed outwards when close to the heels of ROMAN AGENT (P Mxoli).
e)	Jockey R Fourie reported that LION RAMPART felt uncomfortable in its action. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
f)	Jockey P Mxoli reported that ROMAN AGENT failed to respond to his urgings in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding LION RAMPART (R Fourie), Trainer VH Marshall will be 	advised to have this colt re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
h)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding KAIBOY (G Wright), Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be 	advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
i)	CANDY TOWN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer WA Nel was advised. (TL)
j)	QUESTIONING, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (TJ)
