THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NAVY STRENGTH (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 100m DAIMYO (J Solomons) was steadied briefly and made contact with MUCHO DINERO (A Domeyer), which was carried inwards by HOLDING THUMBS (S Veale), which shifted in and was straightened. b) Jockey A Arries reported that LOVE IS A ROSE felt uncomfortable in her action. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) In view of the performance of NAVY STRENGTH (JP van der Merwe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KING PELLES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised. (KG) e) HOLDING THUMBS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised.
