Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start. 

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	ASPECT (S Veale) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight.
b)	Approaching the 400m BIG UNIT (K Matsunyane was unable to secure clear running between the inside running rail and HAT'S PRIDE (C Little) and was directed outwards.
c)	In the concluding stages PLEASE BE TRUE (JP van der Merwe) raced onto the heels of a tiring O'TENIKWA (C Orffer) and was directed outwards.
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with OLIVER. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey O Murphy was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.9.1 in that he removed his skull cap on his 	return to the winners enclosure while still mounted on SAIL THE SEAS. Jockey O Murphy signed an 	Admission of Guilt and was fined R2000.00.
f)	SAIL THE SEAS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TL)
