Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MASTEROFTHEDESERT (M Winnaar) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly.
b) 	BOUNCEBACK (R Fourie) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, MIDWAY (M Mjoka) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start 	which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regards to GNARLY (*I Taka) in stall gate 6 and established that the Handler assigned to this gelding had difficulty in removing the blindfold prior to the start being effected. As a consequence, this gelding had exited the stalls with the blindfold above the browband, which then slipped onto Apprentice Taka's right arm and fell to the ground shortly thereafter. The Stewards, in assessing this incident, were satisfied that GNARLY (*I Taka) had not been impeded nor lost any ground and took no further action.
c)	An Inquiry will be held to establish why MIDWAY (M Mjoka) had to be steadied away from the heels of HOODIA (C Orffer) when racing on the inside of KEBONALESEDI (G van Niekerk) at the 350m.
d)	In the concluding stages Jockey JP van der Merwe (RULE OF THUMB) hesitated with his riding when racing in restricted galloping room between the inside running rail and LA PULGA (S Veale), which rolled in and was immediately straightened.
e)	KEBONALESEDI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer AE Sands was advised. (TL)

a)	S Veale rode LA PULGA (declared 14h09 on 20250111) (Jockey A Domeyer stood down by the course Medical Officer. Rule 25.12 not applied)
