Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IN THE BAG (C Bantam), MEANT TO BE (R Fourie), BILLY COOL (O Noach) and SAIL TO THE MOON (C Little) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 100m BILLY COOL (O Noach) rolled out and was steadied briefly when close to the heels of SUN DAZED (J Solomons). b) SAIL TO THE MOON (C Little) was continually held up for a clear run until the latter stages. c) Leaving the 600m Jockey R Fourie felt something amiss with MEANT TO BE, immediately pulled this gelding out of the race and dismounted at the 400m. This gelding was attended to on course by the Veterinary Surgeon. d) Jockey O Noach reported that BILLY COOL coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) MEANT TO BE (R Fourie) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) f) KELP FOREST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised.
