THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TENPENNY dislodged Jockey JP van der Merwe without incident, cantered a short distance to the start, was taken in hand, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay.
b)	AFRIQUE (G Lerena) jumped inwards.
c)	GRAN CANARIA (C Orffer) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start CRAFT MARKET (GB) (C Bantam) was bumped inwards by PYRO PRINCE (M Mjoka) when PYRO PRINCE (M Mjoka) and TUNGUSKA (G Wright) were carried inwards by AFRIQUE (G Lerena), which shifted in leaving the stalls
b)	JET A ONE (*I Taka) raced wide without cover until approaching the 1000m.
c)	At the 250m UMFULA (R Fourie) was directed inwards and into clear running.
d)	Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss with TUNGUSKA. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e)	Jockey C Zackey reported that, in his opinion, the performance of GURKHA was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	RED DAWN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TL)
