THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LADY SABRINA (*K J Lihaba) was restless and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. b) SOUTHERN STYLE (J Penny) was slow losing five lengths. The starting stall certificate for this mare has been withdrawn. Trainer C Mayhew was advised (GT). c) DESTINY OF FIRE (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In the concluding stages, DESTINY OF FIRE (G Lerena) was carried out marginally by CARNELO (J Gates), which shifted out marginally away from the crop b) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that BLACK LIGHTNING, which hung in from the 600m, did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey J Penny reported that SOUTHERN STYLE took a number of awkward strides in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SOUTHERN STYLE, this mare's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 24 January 2024 to 30 January 2025. SOUTHERN STYLE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Mayhew was advised was advised. e) DESTINY OF FIRE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Dlhamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (SR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
