THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TWO MILES WEST (C Zackey) hung out badly from the 300m. Trainer P F Matchett is to be advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve this gelding's racing manners. b) Leaving the 500m, POCKET WATCH (P Mxoli) was brushed out by DOITWITHDIAMONDS (C Maujean), which rolled out and was corrected. As a result, POCKET WATCH (P Mxoli) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of DJ JUNIOR (G Lerena). c) Jockey P Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride WILLOW EXPRESS out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey P Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board was satisfied that Jockey P Strydom had not prejudiced his chance of losing a position. d) TWO MILES WEST (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Makazhu, acting on behalf of Trainer P F Matchett, was advised (SR). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ARLINGTON ACTION was ridden by Apprentice T Mayhew (declared 22 January 2025 at 10H25).
