Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MAKAZOLE (G van Niekerk) jumped out leaving the stalls.
b)	BIG UNIT (S Moodley) was bumped by TOUT A FAIT (M Yeni), which jumped in leaving the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	SONG TO THE MOON (K Matsunyane) and TOUT A FAIT (M Yeni) bumped shortly after the start.
b)	LET IT BE SAID (JP van der Merwe) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
c)	At the 800m Jockey G van Niekerk (MAKAZOLE) adjusted his right-side stirrup iron.
d) 	Approaching the 200m FIBONACCI (S Veale) and THAT'S MY BABY (C Little), which commenced to give 	ground, brushed when racing in restricted galloping room between SONG TO THE MOON (K Matsunyane) 	and TOUT A FAIT (M Yeni), which improved and shifted in marginally away from the crop. When questioned 	regarding his riding of ROSH KEDESH in the home straight, Jockey C Zackey told the Stewards that in 	previous races when he rode this gelding, it had showed a preference to race on the inside of the course and 	had shifted ground in this direction. As he was mindful of this, and the gelding had indicated that he would 	commence to shift inwards, he allowed it to improve while shifting inwards continually in the closing stages of 	the race. The Stewards advised him that his riding of the gelding had come under notice and that he should 	not commit his mounts to cover unnecessary ground in races when circumstances permit. 
e)	In view of the performance of THAT'S MY BABY (C Little), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine 	this filly.
f)	LET IT BE SAID, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TL)
