Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	KING REGENT (D Schwarz) and COSMIC HIGHWAY (S Veale) jumped slow, losing five lengths .


THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Due to a power outage on course, which affected the Stipendiary Stewards boardroom, the Judge's box and their equipment, and other areas, the Jockeys and horses were delayed in their arrival in the parade ring. The start time of this race was delayed as the Stewards were uncertain when the power would be restored. Trainers were permitted to unsaddle their horses and as a result, the horses had to be re-saddled once the power was restored. This resulted in a delay to the start time of this race.
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to KING REGENT (D Schwarz) and COSMIC HIGHWAY (S Veale) in stall gates 7 and 14 respectively. After reviewing the patrol film, the Stewards determined that this loss of distance was due to both horses' behaviour and took no further action. 
	In view of the report from the Starter regarding KING REGENT (D Schwarz) and COSMIC HIGHWAY (S 	Veale), these gelding's starting stall certificates have been withdrawn and they are suspended for 7 days in 	terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as they prove to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension 	dates: 26/01/2025 to 01/02/2025 inclusive). KING REGENT and COSMIC HIGHWAY may not be presented 	for re-passing during this period.
c)	At the 200m QUESTIONING (JP van der Merwe) was carried out by  LUCKY LAD (G van Niekerk),which 	made its run on the outside of SEEKING THE STARS (G Lerena).	
d)	SURJAY (L Mxothwa) was hanging out from the 300m.
e)	ASIYE PHAMBILI (R Fourie) was hanging out in the closing stages. 
f)	Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with KING REGENT and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.	
g)	In view of the performances of COSMIC HIGHWAY (S Veale) and BEREAVE (K Matsunyane), the Veterinary 	Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
h)	KING REGENT (D Schwarz) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary 	haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The 	National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders)
i)	GIMME A PRINCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised. (TL)
j)	SURJAY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer B Crawford was advised. (TL)

b)	BEREAVE raced with a one-eye blinker on the right side (declared 10h00 on 20250115)
