THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMASHING (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and jumped inwards. b) DOUBLE TRADE (*N Baboo) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of MEDITERANEANGODDES he misused his crop by striking MEDITERANEANGODDES more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. b) SMASHING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) c) FULL OF MAGIC, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
