THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FIRELIGHTER (N Patel) over-raced in the early stages. b) HALF SOVEREIGN (*S Bungane) raced wide and without cover around the turn and compounded in the straight. c) The saddle on MANY WATERS (D Daniels) slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the video evidence. d) Jockey P Strydom signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline M, Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking HARUN AL RASHID forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Veale's (UZWANO) crop use in this race. f) UZWANO (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
