EN ROUTE TO THE START, FRANCINE (G LERENA) LIFTED ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAX THE MAGICIAN (D Schwarz) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LEAD THE CHARGE (R Fourie) over-raced in the early stages. b) MISS HANNIGAN (R A Venniker) hung in around the turn. c) IKIGAI (K Matsunyane) hung in in the concluding stages. d) In view of the performance of LEAD THE CHARGE (R Fourie), (distance 11,50 lengths, betting 10/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) FRANCINE (G Lerena) took an awkward stride at the 50m. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena reported that FRANCINE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) IKIGAI (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MduP).
