Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GALAXY MOMENT (Y Ramzan) was stubborn loading. b) LOTUS ISLAND (R Fourie), SWEET NOTHINGS (K Minnie), TAKE YOUR TIME (E Webber) and GALAXY MOMENT (Y Ramzan) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, MOTHERSHIP (X Ndlovu) hit the front gates of the starting stalls. As a consequence, the front gates of DARLING HARBOUR (C Little), LOTUS ISLAND (R Fourie), MILLENNIUM DANCER (M Yeni), TAKE YOUR TIME (E Webber), GALAXY MOMENT (Y Ramzan), MOTHERSHIP (X Ndlovu) and SUNDROP (MK Katjedi) did not open timeously. As a result, the Starter called a false start. All runners were restrained after travelling a short distance, were returned to the stalls, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. b) SUNDROP (MK Katjedi) was ridden prominently, approximately ten lengths ahead of the field from the start and compounded at the 400m. c) In view of the performance of MILLENNIUM DANCER (M Yeni), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. d) In view of the performance of MOTHERSHIP (X Ndlovu), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of TAKE YOUR TIME he misused his crop by striking TAKE YOUR TIME more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. f) LOTUS ISLAND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
