THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLYING PETER (K de Melo), CAPTAIN SEAGER (G Wright), PINK FLOYD (R Khathi) and WINTER AIR (A Marcus) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 300m, CAPE EAGLE (G Wright) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni) which shifted in and CUPID'S SONG (S Veale) which rolled out marginally. b) Jockey S Khumalo (GIMME A RAINBOW) briefly dropped his right side rein at the 300m. c) In the concluding stages, CUPID'S SONG (S Veale) was switched out off the heels of CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni) which was hanging in from the 200m and thereafter shifted in away from the crop from the 150m. d) Jockey R Khathi reported that PINK FLOYD took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey W Kennedy reported that SO THEY SAY made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GIMME A RAINBOW raced with a compression mask. b) PINK FLOYD raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) PINK FLOYD : Brush wound right hind. b) SO THEY SAY : Nothing obvious detected. c) GIMME A RAINBOW : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe.
