THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GARRIX (A Domeyer) got its left hind leg caught on the running board, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1800m EXPRESS YOURSELF (C Bantam) was carried in by ZEITZ (C Orffer), which shifted inwards. After this incident, EXPRESS YOURSELF (C Bantam) was directed outwards, ridden forward and allowed to race in advance of the field. Jockey C Orffer appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care when shifting ground. b) EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ) c) GARRIX, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised.
