The start of this race was delayed to allow for the transition of power from electricity to generator during the load-shedding phase. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 200m LADY OF VIX (M Thackeray) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied away from AYUWI YUWI (S Veale) which was directed inwards away from the heels of IBHELE (*B Marx-Jacobson) to obtain a clear run. b) In view of the performance of LADY OF VIX (M Thackeray) (11.60 lengths, 4/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that he as the rider of RUGGER LOVER misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. d) TRAFALGAR SQUARE (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch was advised (NS).
