THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STATE CAPITOL (J Solomons) and ALL ABOUT RONNIE (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing one length. b) ENCHANTING CHOICE (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking BEER WITH THE BOYS forward of the saddle at the 300m. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. b) MY BESTIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised.
