Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRISCILLA MAISEY (C Little) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 50m, BLUFF ON BLUFF (A Arries) was brushed on three occasions by RATTLESNAKE (JP van der Merwe), which shifted out marginally. In this incident, the hindquarters of BLUFF ON BLUFF (A Arries) was turned and this gelding was unbalanced. Jockey A Arries lodged an objection on behalf of the 2nd placed horse BLUFF ON BLUFF against the winner RATTLESNAKE (JP van der Merwe) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board, after considering the evidence put forward, reviewing the public broadcast head-on race replay and having regard to the margin of 0,05 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that BLUFF ON BLUFF (A Arries) would have finished ahead of RATTLESNAKE (JP van der Merwe) had this incident not occurred and therefore upheld the result. There was a lengthy delay to the release of the official all-clear due to a technical issue with the Stewards video replays, which required the public broadcast footage to be utilised for the Objection. This was brought to the attention of the IT specialist, who attempted to resolve the issue. b) Jockey C Orffer reported that THE CHARLESTON did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) BLUFF ON BLUFF, the winner after an objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised.
