THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LANCIAFIAMME (M van Rensburg) jumped awkwardly, losing one length. b) FINAL EDITION (R Fourie) and KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (*N Baboo) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PRIME VENTURE (M Yeni) took an awkward stride shortly after the start. b) In view of the performance of PRIME VENTURE (M Yeni) (Betting 4/1; Distance 4.25 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Stable Employee Z Xamle was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) After a telephonic discussion with the Academy Riding Master, Mr R Agrella, Apprentice N Baboo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking KINGDOM OF HEAVEN when he was out of contention for a place. Apprentice N Baboo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500.00. d) WAZ WOUTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM) e) LANCIAFIAMME, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
