THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIR TALLIN (*R Venniker) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CRUSADE TO ROYALTY (J R Syster) took an awkward stride at the 300m. b) In view of the performance of SIR TALLIN (*R Venniker), (distance 7,25 lengths, betting 9/4), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey J Penny was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SKYFULL more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey J Penny signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 750.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and Jockey J Penny's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (1). d) MIRREN (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
