THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLIGHTLY (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride. b) SWEET AND SPICY (M van Rensburg) and CALANDRA (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) ANATURA (E Webber) and SWEET THE SOUND (S Khathi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In a slow run race GOLIGHTLY (S Khumalo), WINGS OF FIRE (L Mxothwa) and ANATURA (E Webber) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey L Mxothwa (WINGS OF FIRE) appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts to the finish. c) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ANATURA more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was suspended for 7 days (Dates: 17/09/2022 to 23/09/2022 both days inclusive). In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey E Webber used his crop, the number of strikes (15) over the permissible level and Jockey E Webber's recent record. d) HEARTSEASE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
