THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DUAL AT DAWN (J P van der Merwe) and HYDRANGEA (*K A Brewer) were slow losing one length. b) JUST BE NICE (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls, and thereafter rushed the front gate. This filly was removed from the stalls, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently scratched. Assistant Trainer T Dawson was advised to re-school this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey M Yeni felt something amiss with FANTASY FLOWER and eased her out of the race at the 500m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. b) STOLEN THUNDER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee J Crawford advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) FOLLOW MY PATH was ridden by Jockey J Penny. Jockey D De Gouveia was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse FOLLOW MY PATH, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey De Gouveia signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LIDL MISS SUNSHINE raced with a tongue tie on (declared 15 September 2022 at 08H08.
