THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAW COURT (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading, kicked the back gate, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. b) PERFECTION (JP van der Merwe) reared in the stalls and jumped slow, losing three lengths. c) PRINCE OF HEAVEN (W Agrella) and DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLOBAL GUNNER (S Khumalo), which raced prominently from a wide draw in the early stages, commenced to over race in the middle stages and commenced to give ground abruptly from the 400m. As a consequence to this, HEY SIRI (M van Rensburg) was held up and was switched out to continue its run. b) PERFECTION (JP van der Merwe) raced green. c) Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking HEATHCLIFF more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Habib signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey Habib used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding LAW COURT (M Mjoka), Trainer K Naidoo will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) INDY VIEW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
