THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VERIFIED (S Khumalo) was withdrawn at the start, causing a delay.
b) RAISETHEREDLANTERN (JP van der Merwe) was nervous and reared in the stalls.
c) HONEST QUEST (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls
d) GLOBAL ASH (R Munger) and BETHEL (S Khathi) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) KINGSTON ROCK (R Fourie) was switched out leaving the 300m to secure clear running.
b) JAQUAR CAT (X Ndlovu) was hanging in from the 300m.
c) In view of the performances of HONEST QUEST (K Minnie) and SANCTITY (*K Strydom) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
d) Apprentice J Solomons reported that QUENANZA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
e) Jockeys JP van der Merwe and S Devoy, the riders of RAISETHEREDLANTERN and RED BISHOP respectively, reported that these geldings changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
f) SANCTITY (*K Strydom) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden)
g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding VERIFIED (S Khumalo) this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 17/09/2022 to 23/09/2022 inclusive). VERIFIED may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
h) BETHEL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Paddock acting on behalf of Trainer WGC Miller, was advised. (LM)
