THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ALEEYAH'S UNICORN (A Mgudlwa) reared in the stalls, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded.
b) CRY FREEDOM (K Matsunyane) lost one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start, ALEEYAH'S UNICORN (A Mgudlwa) and FOREIGN LADY (S Moodley) came together and bumped.
b) Approaching the 900m, FOREIGN LADY (S Moodley) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of TRIPTOROYALTY (*R Venniker) which rolled in.
c) ELI'S BOW (*C Dicken) raced green.
d) Jockey K Matsunyane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse CRY FREEDOM more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey K Matsunyane struck the horse CRY FREEDOM, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed.
e) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline N, in that as the rider of FOREIGN LADY, he mis-used his crop by hitting this filly on its head in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R5000 was imposed.
f) TRIPTOROYALTY (*R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen acting on behalf of Trainer M Roberts advised (NS).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) CRY FREEDOM raced equipped with blinkers (advised 19.09.22/6h16).
b) ELI'S BOW raced with a compression mask, steel shoes in front, unshod behind (advised 14.09.22/8h19).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
