THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHO'S THAT STAR (C Habib) and ALFONSA SPAGONI (C* Dicken) lost two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) After being slow away, ALFONSA SPAGONI (*C Dicken) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) At the 200m, Apprentice R Venniker (PHINDA MZALA) had her crop accidentally struck from her hand by Jockey C Habib (WHO'S THAT STAR). c) Apprentice C Dicken reported that he felt something amiss with ALFONSA SPAGONI in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Habib signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse WHO'S THAT STAR more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey C Habib struck the horse WHO'S THAT STAR, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) GIMME A RAINBOW (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) WHO'S THAT STAR raced with alumites in front, unshod behind and raced equipped with blinkers (advised 15.09.22/6h39). b) ALFONSA SPAGONI raced without blinkers (advised 19.09.22/7h48). c) PHINDA MZALA raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 14.09.22/13h08). d) CHARGE DOWN raced equipped with blinkers and without a tongue tie (advised 18.09.22/13h22).
