BLETCHLEY proved reluctant to proceed to the start and was led by a Handler. Thereafter the tongue tie on TIME TO BE GREAT had to be re-fitted at the start. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this Race. BLETCHLEY was stubborn loading and lost one length. TAKATUL was stubborn loading. BLETCHLEY proves reluctant to proceed to the start and was led by a Handler. Trainer Von Willingh Smit was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended. In view of the performance of OUR MOON SHADOW (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Apprentice Klink reported that AFRICAN MAGIC changed stride continually in running. TIME TO BE GREAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When afforded the opportunity to explain the improved performance of TIME TO BE GREAT, Assistant Trainer Oosthuizen could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. AFRICAN MAGIC raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind.
