THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BAYVIEW EXPRESS (S Cele) and FAIRE ADVANTAGE (S Mbhele) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. b) LION'S HEAD (K de Melo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m a tiring SILENT WAR (G Wright) was steadied and brushed the inside running rail when racing tight on the inside of FAIRE ADVANTAGE (S Mbhele). Thereafter Jockey G Wright did not persevere with his riding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey C Orffer was unable to ride THE FUTURIST to the finish when awkwardly placed between FAIRE ADVANTAGE (S Mbhele) and KEEP IT SECRET (M Yeni) and close to the heels of SHAVOUT (S Khumalo). c) In view of the performance BAYVIEW EXPRESS (S Cele), which was squeezed out shortly after the start, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) NORTHERN SONG, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised.
