THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHASING TIME (J P v'd Merwe) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, FLIRTY DANCER (S Moodley) and SUCH A CRACKER (C Ngcobo) came together and brushed. b) ROY'S CAVIAR (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) Approaching the 1100m, ROY'S CAVIAR (K Matsunyane) was carried out by FLIRTY DANCER (S Moodley) which over-raced in the early and middle stages and was switched out when awkwardly placed on the heels of JUST VIRGINIA (J Gates). d) SUCH A CRACKER (C Ngcobo) shifted in away from the crop between the 200m and the 150m. e) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse JUST VIRGINIA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey J Gates struck the horse JUST VIRGINIA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. f) JUST VIRGINIA (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (NS).
