THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, SON OF RAJ (T Godden) and CARAMEL FUDGE (A Arries) were inconvenienced on the outside of EUGENE (K de Melo) which jumped out leaving the starting stalls. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with EUGENE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to GRAND FINALE (A Mgudlwa), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 03.10.2022 to the 09.10.22. GRAND FINALE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer Y Govender was advised. (SL) d) Jockey K Matsunyane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse CAPTAINS WALK more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey K Matsunyane struck the horse CAPTAINS WALK, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. e) AGRESSIVO (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS).
