THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VALIENTE (*M Katjedi) and RAMCHANDANI ROAD (R Fourie) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 400m, FLYING PETER (*D Geerthsen) was steadied momentarily off the heels of RIDE THE LIGHTNING (R Khathi) which rolled in. Thereafter, at the 300m, FLYING PETER (*D Geerthsen) was switched in off the heels of RIDE THE LIGHTNING (R Khathi) which shifted out away from the crop and was straightened. b) Between the 300m and the 150m, RAMCHANDANI ROAD (R Fourie) and ONE TOO MANY (K Matsunyane) which was hanging in, brushed on two occasions. Thereafter, RAMCHANDANI ROAD (R Fourie) and ONE TOO MANY (K Matsunyane) came together and brushed at the 150m. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that SLEEK AS SILK took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) VALIENTE (*M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
