THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARCTIC DRIFT (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SHAVOUT (J Jacobs) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. b) NAVY STRENGTH (G van Niekerk) was continually held up for a clear run in the straight when unable to secure a clear run between the inside running rail and THE FUTURIST (C Orffer). c) Leaving the 300m BAYVIEW EXPRESS (C Habib) was held up for a clear run, switched out and then had to be steadied away from the heels of SHAVOUT (J Jacobs). Thereafter BAYVIEW EXPRESS (C Habib) was switched out further and was unable to secure a clear run between SHAVOUT (J Jacobs) and ARCTIC DRIFT (G Wright) until shortly before the finish. d) LION'S HEAD (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 150m. e) Jockey C Habib reported that BAYVIEW EXPRESS changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockeys L Mxothwa and C Zackey, the riders of GLOBAL ALLY and DUBAI LIGHTS respectively reported that these geldings took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. g) I WANT IT ALL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (CvA) h) THE FUTURIST, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
