EXELERO, AFRIKABURN, LORD BALMORAL and MARCH MUSIC were slow into stride respectively. Jockey Cheyne, the rider of BREAKFAST CLUB, and Jockey Bogaleboile, the rider of DESERT WISDOM, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in the running. At the 400m, LORD WINDERMERE was brushed out by EXELERO, which shifted out to continue his run. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, EXELERO was brushed in by LORD WINDERMERE, which rolled in marginally. Jockey Yeni appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the apparently less vigorous nature of his ride between the 250m and the 200m. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, THE HIGHWAY MAN had shown a tendency to hang in. Consequently, between the above distances, he had elected to shift his horse in after the marginally outward movement from, ROYAL ARMOUR and inward movement from EXELERO. Thereafter, upon obtaining a clear run, he rode THE HIGHWAY MAN out as best he could to the end of the race however, he was of the view that, this gelding was not racing comfortably in the running and reported him as being amiss. Accordingly, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey Yeni's explanation was noted by the Board and corroborated by both the Course Veterinary Surgeon and patrol films of the race. EXELERO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: THE HIGHWAY MAN - not striding out in front. BREAKFAST CLUB - not striding out right front. MARCH MUSIC - not striding out left front. DESERT WISDOM - not striding out behind.
