THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRAIRIE FALCON (*P Mxoli) was slow losing one length. b) GOLDEN ASPEN (M van Rensburg) was slow losing two lengths. c) PATON'S TEARS (S Khumalo) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised to re-school this mare prior to her next engagement (LAS). d) MCKENNA SKYE (M Khan) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SPECIAL VARIETY (R Munger) was bumped inwards by MCKENNA SKYE (M Khan) which jumped inwards. b) At approximately the 1200m, MCKENNA SKYE (M Khan) was taken back for a number of strides in order to obtain cover behind SPLASH OF GREEN (M Yeni). c) Jockey S Khumalo (PATON'S TEARS), Jockey R Munger (SPECIAL VARIETY) and Jockey M Yeni (SPLASH OF GREEN) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. d) PRINCESS PHILIPPA (R Simons), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GOLDEN ASPEN NEW merit rating 82, mass 59kg (winner 13 October 2022, Vaal Racecourse). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PATON'S TEARS not striding out left front. b) SPECIAL VARIETY fatigued. c) SPLASH OF GREEN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
