THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TO THE MAX (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) REGINA'S ANGEL (Y Ramzan) raced wide without cover in the early stages and was allowed to race forward and to the front of field from 1000m. c) CRAFTY HEART (R Munger) was hanging out in the straight. d) Jockey G Wright (GOLDEN ARCHER) dropped his crop at the 300m. e) SPACE ODDITY (J Mphanya) was hanging in from the 300m. f) In view of the performance of GOLDEN ARCHER (G Wright), which finished tailed off, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with EMALINE and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. h) Jockey W Agrella reported that UBIQUITAS did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. i) When questioned regarding the improved performance of RIVER CAFE (L Mxothwa), Trainer GD Smith stated that this mare had been fitted with blinkers in her previous race, had pulled hard and refused to settle. He was of the opinion that the removal of the blinkers and racing over more ground, as suggested by Jockey S Khumalo after her previous race, had accounted for the improvement.
