THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OVER THE BAY (*P Mxoli) lost one length. b) TWICE GOLDEN (*M K Katjedi) lost two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1700m, OVER THE BAY (*P Mxoli) was steadied in anticipation of racing in restricted room between the inside running rail and DOUBLE ESPRESSO (*S Hlengwa) which shifted in marginally and was immediately corrected. b) DOUBLE ESPRESSO (*S Hlengwa) was hanging in and shifted in from the 150m. c) LIVING WATERS (*J Solomons) shifted in away from the crop from the 100m. d) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that OVER THE BAY did not stride out freely post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of TIN CUP (*R Venniker) (6.65 lengths, 7/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) DOUBLE ESPRESSO (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (NS). g) OVER THE BAY (*P Mxoli), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
