THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Shortly before the start was effected, WINTER WAVES (T Godden) dropped its head down which resulted in this gelding losing 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 250m, RALPH THE RASCAL (*S Hlengwa) and CAPTAIN WHO (A Arries), had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of PARMENION (*M K Katjedi), which had come to the end of its run and shifted outwards. b) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse COUNT MARSH more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse COUNT MARSH, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed. c) COUNT MARSH (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R A Hill advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PARMENION raced equipped with blinkers and with a tongue tie (advised 01.11.22/08h43). b) BOTZ raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 31.10.22/08h44).
