THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER AIR (A Mgudlwa) was fractious in the stalls. b) PATH OF CHOICE (C Orffer) and CHEEKY LADDIE (K de Melo) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. b) WILLIAM THE FIRST (O Noach) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) MASTERFUL GUY (G Behr) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. d) WINTER AIR (A Mgudlwa) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) Apprentice J Solomons reported that MAJOR WINTER took no interest and made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding WINTER AIR (A Mgudlwa) Trainer G van Zyl will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) RUNNING RIFLES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
