THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ZEUS (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Trainer F P Habib was advised to reschool this colt prior to his next engagement (PHvdW). b) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (C Maujean) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ARAGOSTA (J Mariba) was hanging in from the 400m and was steadied and directed outwards to continue its run off the heels of ZILLZAAL (C Habib), which had commenced to give ground abruptly. b) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that ZEUS was blowing post race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) In view of the performance of PERFECT WITNESS (M Yeni), (distance 11,75 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) LITIGATION (*P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
