THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BRASS BELL (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) CAPTAIN MORISCO (W Agrella) raced awkwardly on the early part of the bend.
b) Jockey M Yeni reported that LIGHT THAT LOOSE did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that ROCK GARDEN made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the performance of ALL ABOUT AL (R Fourie) (Betting 33/20 ; Distance 5.95), which raced handy in the early stages and failed to respond to the rider's urgings in the straight, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Jockey W Agrella was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking CAPTAIN MORISCO more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey W Agrella signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey W Agrella used his crop, the number of strikes (16) over the permissible level and his good recent record.
f) PARIS RIX, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)

b) STORM CHASER raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (declared 08h31 on 20221111)
c) W Agrella rode CAPTAIN MORISCO
d) R Danielson (STORM CHASER) rode +1kg (56.4kgs). The stewards, in consultation with Trainer Z Oosthuizen, allowed this overweight in terms of Rule 59.9 and did not sanction Jockey R Danielson as the sweat box was unavailable to riders.
