THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOUNT GREYLOCK (S Veale) was stubborn to load. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie was advised to re-school this gelding. b) QUEEN'S WOOD (*M Katjedi) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WILL O ME (A Mgudlwa) was hanging out around the turn. b) At the 300m, NORTHERN WARRIOR (*R Venniker) was baulked for a clear run between WILL O ME (A Mgudlwa) and BLUE EYES (T Gumede). Shortly thereafter, NORTHERN WARRIOR (*R Venniker) had to steady momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of STEVIE GEE (C Habib). NORTHERN WARRIOR (*R Venniker) was then switched out off the heels of TWO OF US (*S Hlengwa) to obtain a clear run at the 150m. c) In the concluding stages, TRADE WAR (M Yeni) which was hanging in and MOUNT GREYLOCK (S Veale) which shifted out away from the crop, came together and brushed. d) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with STEVIE GEE from the 250m and as a result, eased his mount out of the race in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer W Whitehead will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. e) In view of the performance of WILL O ME (A Mgudlwa) (12.80 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) MOUNT GREYLOCK (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier advised (HM). g) STEVIE GEE (C Habib), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) QUIZ MASTER Jockey R Fourie weighed out at 55kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BLUE EYES : Returned post-race having cast the right hind shoe. b) WILL O ME : Nothing obvious detected. c) STEVIE GEE : Nothing obvious detected. d) TWO OF US : Abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None
