THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUE FOR YOU (R Khathi) fly-jumped leaving the stalls which resulted in Jockey R Khathi becoming unbalanced. b) IRON CHEF (K Matsunyane) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 300m, RECKLESS LOVE (C Habib) had to steady momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of BELL JAR (*R Venniker) which was hanging out from the 400m. Thereafter, at approximately the 250m, BELL JAR (*R Venniker) was accidentally struck on the head by Jockey C Dicken's (MALCOLM'S DREAM) crop. b) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse JUST VIRGINIA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey J Gates struck the horse JUST VIRGINIA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. c) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse MASTERS BEAUTY more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse MASTERS BEAUTY, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. d) MASTERS BEAUTY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BLAZING ASTUTE was ridden by Apprentice S Hlengwa (claiming 4kg). Reserve runner (advised 14.11.22/7h23). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) DUQUESNE WHISTLE : Coughing.
