THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHESAKINDA MAGIC (S Khathi) was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) While leaving the parade ring, SHESAKINDA MAGIC dislodged Jockey S Khathi without incident and cantered a short distance, bumped the temporary rail before being taken in hand, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. During this incident, the bridle on SHESAKINDA MAGIC (S Khathi) broke and had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) At the 200m TEXAS TORNADO (C Maujean) had to be directed inwards away from the heels of GLITTERFOX (X Ndlovu), which was hanging in and shifted in. c) Leaving the 100m BABYITSCOLDOUTSIDE (S Khumalo) rolled in away from the crop and brushed the hindquarters of SHESAKINDA MAGIC (S Khathi). As a consequence, BABYITSCOLDOUTSIDE (S Khumalo) became unbalanced shortly before the finish. Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised that his use of the crop had come under the notice of the Stewards. Jockey S Khumalo was advised that the Stewards expected him to give his mounts an opportunity to respond to his crop use. d) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with NAIROBI, which gave ground to the field from the 700m and was not persevered with in the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) SHESAKINDA MAGIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM) f) BABYITSCOLDOUTSIDE, the fourth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
