THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) JACK IN THE BOX (S Khathi), VIEW THE ROSES (L Mxothwa) and BELLE'S FIRST WAVE (R Munger) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start VIEW THE ROSES (L Mxothwa) was bumped inwards and stumbled after clipping the heels of STEPDANCE (X Ndlovu), which shifted in away from DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie), which jumped inwards.
b) At the 800m DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie) was carried out by GLOBAL GUNNER (JP van der Merwe), which was directed outwards to avoid the heels of BADGE OF HONOUR (M Mjoka), which commenced to give ground abruptly. Following this incident DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie) raced wide and had to be ridden forward to regain its position near the lead. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine BADGE OF HONOUR (M Mjoka).
c) BADGE OF HONOUR (M Mjoka) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. d) Trainer JVA Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 70.1.1 in that failed to report to the Stipendiary Board that the horse JACK IN THE BOX had sustained a saddle injury to its wither which required examination by the veterinary surgeon before this gelding was passed suitable to race. Trainer JVA Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2000.00.
e) GLOBAL GUNNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
f) JACK IN THE BOX, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (LM)
JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES:
a) BELLE'S FIRST WAVE raced with a tongue tie (declared 08h06 on 20221114)
b) GLOBAL GUNNER raced with a compression mask (declared 15h21 on 20221113)
c) DREAM STAR raced without blinkers (declared 09h24 on 20221114)
d) Apprentice RA Venniker (KING OF LUV) only claimed 0.5kg of her allowance (54kgs)
e) M van Rensburg (DREAM STAR) rode +0.5kg (53.6kgs)
f) M Mjoka (BADGE OF HONOUR) rode +0.5kg (52.7kgs)

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) BADGE OF HONOUR - examined post-race. Bilateral Epistaxis. Suspended 60 days (Rule 93.1 applied)
b) JACK IN THE BOX - ulcerated mass dorsally on wither approximately 4cm in diameter. Soft to touch and not painful on hard palpitation. Trainer advised to rest. Good padding used and suitable to race.
