THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VICKEYNEKI (J Mphanya) fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing one length. b) ANTONIA AGUGUSTA (T Gould) jumped slow, losing one length. c) ALYESKA (JP van der Merwe) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start ST PATRICK'S DAY (*RA Venniker) and MAIGURU (K de Melo) bumped and both horses shifted ground marginally. b) VICKEYNEKI (J Mphanya) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) Jockey L Mxothwa (ELUSIVE JEWEL) briefly dropped his right-side rein at the 400m. d) In view of the performance of ALYESKA (JP van der Merwe), which was not persevered with from the 250m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Trainer JVA Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that ANTONIA AUGUSTA was presented at the racecourse at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Trainer JVA Strydom signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00. f) MAIGURU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
