THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SHORT SHARP SHOCK (JP van der Merwe), which reared repeatedly in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. Prior to re-loading, the saddle had to be re-fitted, causing a further delay.
b) CRIMSON WINGS (L Mxothwa) and DESTINED TO DANCE (O Noach) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Leaving the 50m CHELSEA GARDEN (G van Niekerk) shifted out away from SHORT SHARP SHOCK (JP van der Merwe), and then had to be steadied and became unbalanced when awkwardly placed on the inside of DESTINED TO DANCE (O Noach). As a consequence, Jockey G van Niekerk was unable to ride CHELSEA GARDEN to the finish.
b) Jockey R Fourie reported that DAISY DUKE, which raced without cover in the early stages and proved difficult to settle, did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c) In view of the performance of CRIMSON WINGS, which finished tailed off, the veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d) In view of the report from the starter regarding SHORT SHARP SHOCK (JP van der Merwe), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 28/11/2022 to 04/12/2022 inclusive). SHORT SHARP SHOCK may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
e) ROYAL INVITATION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (DD)
