THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IGNATIUS (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow losing one length. b) SO LONG SPRING (N Qaule) and FOLLOW MY PATH (R Munger) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, IGNATIUS (K de Melo) became restless and threw its head down and to the left. As a consequence of this, the Handler assigned to IGNATIUS (K de Melo) was fractionally slow in releasing his grip on this gelding's bridle. The Board was of the opinion that this impediment and subsequent loss of one length were a consequence of the horse's own behaviour and therefore took no further action. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that IGNATIUS took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) FLAG BEARER (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) FOLLOW MY PATH: Jockey R Munger weighed out at 52,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) IGNATIUS scalp wound right hind. SCRATCHED: a) WONDERING STAR lame left front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
